May 16th CPL Class – Rockford / Cedar Springs

Most CPL classes focus on getting you through the requirement. This course is designed to ensure you understand what you’re doing and why it matters.

Instruction is structured and logical. You’ll work through grip, vision, recoil control, and balancing speed and accuracy. Everything is taught in a way that’s easy to apply and retain, not just to pass a class.

  • You’ll learn safe handling, how Michigan law applies to defensive encounters, and solid shooting fundamentals

  • Small class sizes allow for individual instruction and meaningful range time

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

  • Firearm safety and handling

  • Michigan CPL law and legal considerations

  • Pistol operation and shooting fundamentals

  • Proper grip, vision, trigger and recoil control

  • Balancing speed and accuracy

  • Concealed carry considerations

  • Home defense considerations within Michigan law

  • Safe storage considerations

WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE COURSE

  • A modern semi-automatic pistol is preferred for qualification

  • DA/SA revolvers are acceptable but not preferred

  • No AR pistols

  • No single-action-only revolvers

  • No steel-cased ammunition

  • Bring at least 50 rounds of quality ammunition

  • Bring 2 or more magazines if possible (if you only have one, we will make it work)

  • Rental pistols available for $15

  • 9mm ammunition available at $20 per box of 50 (prorated based on usage)

  • Eye and ear protection required (extras available if needed)

  • Bring a valid photo ID and your CPL if you already have one

  • Dress for the weather

  • A holster is not required

  • Course typically runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Safety Rules

  1. Treat all guns as though they are loaded, even after you've ensure it to be unloaded.​​

  2. Never point your firearm at anything you are not willing to destroy.​

  3. Keep your finger OFF the trigger and outside of the trigger guard until you are on target and have made the decision to shoot.​

  4. Always be sure of your target, and know what's behind, in front of and around the target.
