Why This CPL Course is Different
Most CPL classes are built to get you through the requirement.
That’s not how I run training.
I keep classes small so I can spend time with each student on the range. You’re not just there to pass a qualification. You’re learning how to build and apply solid fundamentals.
We focus on what actually matters. Grip, recoil control, vision, and trigger control. Once you start understanding those concepts, everything starts to come together.
Accuracy becomes more consistent. You’re able to manage the gun better and shoot with control.
Training is split between classroom in Rockford and live-fire range work in Cedar Springs, so you get both the legal understanding and the hands-on application.
The goal is not just to complete the course. The goal is to leave as a safe, capable, and confident shooter.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you have questions, they’re probably answered here.
Do I need a firearm before the course? No. Many students rent one of mine. I go over firearm selection during the course and can help guide you afterward on gear and ammunition.
What do I need to bring? If you have your own firearm, bring it along with eye and ear protection and ammunition. If you don’t, I have rental pistols and eye and ear protection available, and ammunition can be purchased at the range.
Is this beginner friendly? Yes. Most students have little to no experience. Everything is taught from the ground up in a structured way.
How long is the CPL course? It depends on the option you choose. Open enrollment is typically completed in one day, while private training can be scheduled more flexibly and split across multiple days if needed.
Do I need to take a class to renew my CPL? No. Michigan does not require a formal class to renew. You only need to certify that you completed the required review and range time within the last 6 months. A new course is only required if your CPL has been expired for more than one year.
What if I want more training after the course? I offer private training and fundamentals courses if you want to continue building your skills.
